Orientation Sessions for International Professionals Making Calgary Home
Calgary Catholic Immigration Society has developed a series of innovative, interactive orientation sessions, designed to introduce highly-skilled newcomer professionals to various aspects of the resettlement and integration process soon after their arrival.
These intensive orientation and information sessions establish the groundwork for successful settlement and employment.
The topics of the Calgary: A New Chapter orientation sessions provide newcomer professionals with information about the city of Calgary, the local education system, finances and banking, recreational and volunteer opportunities, community service, Canadian workplace culture and employment preparation.
Each session covers a key component of the integration process, including:
- Cultural Adaptation
- Civic Participation
- Credentials and Workplace Culture
- Job Search Skills
The sessions are hosted by professionals from within the community, who share information and advice from their field of expertise. Speakers include: HR specialists, business owners, civic leaders, representatives from the Calgary Police, banking professionals, and many others.
Upon completion of the sessions, each participant receives a CD and Workbook Planner which will assist them in designing their own settlement plan. The CD contains links to a wide variety of carefully reviewed and selected websites which provide practical and useful information.
