Resettlement and Integration Services

The Resettlement and Integration Services Division provides a variety of programs designed to facilitate the resettlement of refugee, immigrants and other newcomers to Calgary. A team of multicultural counselors, provide resettlement assistance in over 16 languages. Services are offered at CCIS’s main office, the Calgary International Airport and at the The Margaret Chisholm Resettlement Centre.
Programs we offer are:
- Airport Reception Program - offers an one time welcome service to newcomers, immigrants and refugees as they arrive to the Calgary International Airport.
- The Margaret Chisholm Resettlement Centre - a temporary accommodation facility that can accommodate up to 70 Government Assisted Refugees (GAR’s) at a time for up to 19 days. When space is available, MCRC can provide transitional housing for newcomers to Calgary.
- Resettlement Aassistance Program (RAP) - facilitates the resettlement of GAR’s for up to one year.
- Integrated Resettlement Program (ISP) - an on-going program that provides assistance with resettlement and integration for up to three years. This program is accessible to all newcomers.
- Refugee Health Program - provides various specialized medical services to refugees in their first year after arrival to Canada.
- Refugee Student Services Project (RSSP) - This program was developed to provide these children with extra support to deal with any resettlement issues which may have an effect on their academic performance.
